Last week I got to shoot a corporate day out, where suppliers and employees from a firm came down to Rotorua and participated in different adventure activities. Unfortunately the weather turned on us and I ended up getting totally drenched and so did my equipment.
By the end of the day, my main lens (24-70 2.8 L) was so wet that it was not usable since the glass inside the lens was fogged up. This is why I always go for higher quality glass and equipment, I am sure that if I had been using a lower level lens, it probably would not be working anymore. Since I regularly subject my camera equipment to extreme conditions, I also have no qualms about the insurance premiums my insurance broker charges. Because if I had to worry about having to replace my gear on every shoot then I would not be able to get the shots that I do….
