Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Park, Rotorua, New Zealand

One of my current favorite locations to shoot in Rotorua is at the Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Park. In fact, it will be one of the places that I will be taking my Photography Workshop and I recently took Michael Kenna (whom I wrote about here) to visit when he was visiting Rotorua for the NZIPP InFocus Conference.

The thing that I love about Wai-O-Tapu is that you can go there at anytime of day and in just about any kind of weather and find something interesting to photograph. The day that I showed Michael Kenna around, the steam coming off the Champagne Pool was really impressive and you could barely see the natural bubbles coming up out of the ground in the pool…
