I know a lot of people dream about being a photographer, but the majority of the people who try to make a living as a photographer quit in the first five years and move on to another profession. It is probably one of the hardest jobs in the world to make a living out of, especially now with digital. But have no fear this post is not about the good old days of shooting on film.
I love being a photographer because it allows me to share my adventures with people who might not necessarily be able or even inclined to get to the locations that I get my cameras to. Recently I was down in Wanaka to cover the Godzone Adventure Race. While I was down there I was sharing some of my images via Instagram and Outside Magazine got in touch and asked me to send through a few images for them to share on their instagram feed. Here are two of my images that they shrared:
It is not just that they shared my images on their instagram feed that put a smile on my face, but the number of people who not only saw my image, but the number of their followers who liked the images- over 10,000 likes from just two images!
After all, part of being a photographer is capturing moments and then sharing them with others and the more people who see my images, the happier I am.
They liked my images so much that they will be posting a gallery of my images from the 2015 Godzone Adventure Race on their website soon. I will be sure to share that link here when it goes live.
Also be sure to on Instagram as well.
